What is medically-supervised weight loss?
At Emerge Medical, Loreen Williams, APRN, creates a personalized weight loss plan after a obtaining a full medical and diet history including a full panel of bloodwork to rule out the presence of any undiagnosed medical conditions contributing to your weight gain.
What method of weight loss is used at Emerge Medical?
Emerge Medical endorses the restriction of carbohydrates to induce a "fat-burning" metabolic state called ketosis. In addition to restricting carbohydrates, a very-low calorie diet is constructed using a macronutrient profile customized from your calculated metabolic rate. The metabolism of body fat is supported with the optional use of weekly injections with the lipotrophic agents L-Methiomine, Inositol and Choline (better known as MIC injections). hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) can also be used to facilitate fat loss and, if chosen, is injected daily for a prescribed period of time. Although the state of ketosis itself is a natural appetite suppressant, the addition of a prescription appetite suppressant (if medically appropriate) can be prescribed as a diet aide, however hunger is not often bothersome to those following a "keto" diet.
Why choose Emerge Medical for your weight loss needs?
Losing weight is not easy, and certainly nowhere near as easy as gaining it! Loreen, the provider at Emerge Medical, knows about the struggles of weight loss from personal experience. Having battled being overweight since adolescence, and obesity in adulthood, Loreen has lost weight on nearly every diet plan published only to regain the weight and then some over time. - until she discovered for herself the benefits of using ketosis for weight loss and the implementation of a "keto lifestyle" to finally keep it off. Using this very method, Loreen has successfully lost over 100 pounds and continues to maintain a healthy weight today. She will openly share her weight loss strategies and tips for success with you throughout your journey to wellness as only someone who has lived the experience can have the insight into the pitfalls, barriers, and emotions that often sabotage our success.

What is included in an Emerge Medical weight loss plan?
Weight loss at Emerge Medical begins with an initial consultation to discuss diet history, medical history, weight loss goals, and the tenants of ketotic dieting to ensure that Emerge Medical's weight loss approach is right for you. If you choose to proceed, bloodwork will be ordered for completion prior to the next visit.
At the initial weight loss appointment, body measurements will be obtained, a physical exam is performed, and the diet plan that is best for you is thoroughly discussed as well as the option for a prescription appetite suppressant.
Clients return weekly for ongoing assessment, education and support. Bloodwork is repeated after 10% of body weight is lost. Emerge Medical is happy to work in coordination with your primary care provider during your weight loss journey.
How much weight can I lose?
Weight loss varies for each individual, however, on average, clients can lose 1-2 pounds weekly following a common loss of 5 or more pounds the first week.
